Naturalcosme Creative Director, Makeup Artist

A pioneer in the organic cosmetics world. After a successful career as a hair and makeup artist for numerous celebrities and high-profile projects, Komatsu's personal battle with multiple chemical sensitivity sparked a deep dive into the science of skin and cosmetics. In 2008, she pivoted her career, becoming a producer of organic and natural cosmetics. Her work now spans product development, public speaking, seminars, corporate training, and producing exhibitions, events, and retail spaces. She also oversees the cosmetics zone for Japan's largest organic trade show.

From Chemical to Organic—Then to Soap-Off Makeup

Komatsu boasts a long and storied career as a makeup artist. After working for 'Yamada Katsura,' a prestigious company renowned for its hair and makeup work in film and television, she went freelance at 26 and spent two decades at the top of the industry.
"Back then, it was standard practice to use 'chemical cosmetics' from major brands," she recalls. "But in my early 30s, I began to struggle with unexplained health issues. The backs of my hands would break out in painful welts, but it never crossed my mind that my makeup was the culprit.
