'DIGAWEL' & 'MIZUNO' Present a New Form of Collaboration in Shoes
Known for its simple, refined, relaxed silhouette balance and uniquely shaped items, 'DIGAWEL' is widely supported for its designs that seamlessly blend into daily life regardless of the wearer. This time, we spoke with Kohei Nishimura, the designer at DIGAWEL, about the history of DIGAWEL, their dedication to craftsmanship, and the upcoming Digawel & MIZUNO release on September 23 (Saturday).
The Appealing Mix of the Latest Model & Archival Designs
The 'WAVE RIDER β' by DIGAWEL & MIZUNO, which was popular in the 2023 SS collection, is releasing its second installment on September 23 (Saturday). This time, we talked to Kohei Nishimura from DIGAWEL and Takeshi Saito from MIZUNO's Global Footwear Product Division, who was also involved in the previous version, about the journey of creating this second collaboration shoe.First, could you tell us about how this collaboration shoe came to be?
NishimuraAbout two years ago, DIGAWEL had a season themed 'Coach' where they launched a sporty collection. I thought it would be ideal to have sneakers in that collection, so I reached out to MIZUNO through an acquaintance. It took about a year to progress the discussion, so of course, it didn't make it in time for the 'Coach' collection (laughs).
