Quilted jackets by LAVENHAM may be perceived as something of an aspiration for many adults, perhaps thanks to the brand's commitment to being made in the UK for over 50 years. Besides their ever-popular classic pieces, LAVENHAM has also evolved their current offerings to incorporate modern designs while preserving their rich tradition. For this article, we sat down with Hiroyuki Tasaki, the sales manager for LAVENHAM at Hit Union Co., Ltd. to learn more.

The Brand's Roots Trace Back to a Horse Blanket Made of Nylon Quilting

While LAVENHAM is well-known as a historical quilted brand, it's worth revisiting the beginning of its journey.
"LAVENHAM was founded in 1969 in the village of Lavenham in Suffolk, England. The business actually started with horse blankets. Traditional horse blankets were mainly made of jute, a type of hemp, which added weight when it got wet in the rain and developed odour problems. During this time, a lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth II, Elliot made a quilted horse blanket from nylon, which became the roots of LAVENHAM.
