When you think of Timberland, the 'Yellow Boot' immediately comes to mind as the brand's globally recognized icon. Its history dates back to 1973, when founder Nathan Swartz designed the Yellow Boot for workers braving the harsh natural environment of New Hampshire, USA.
These revolutionary Yellow Boots became widely known in the workwear and outdoor scenes. Later, from the 1980s to the 1990s, they gained support in the music and fashion scenes, particularly in hip-hop, achieving global recognition.
While continuing to release a variety of popular footwear, the brand has also ventured into apparel and accessories, broadening its reach into a full lifestyle brand. In this article, we'll take a closer look at their apparel offerings.
Among them, the Japan-based collection directed by Timberland's Tokyo design team, 'Timberland BY TOKYO DESIGN COLLECTIVE' (hereafter 'Timberland TDC'), is garnering significant attention.
We asked Bunta Oki, Associate Manager of the Marketing Department at Timberland Japan, VF Japan Inc., to introduce the lineup, which honors Timberland's history of apparel creation while reconstructing it for the modern era.
