The first step into the world of original boots and earning fame with just one pair
The founder, Leon Leonwood Bean, was an outdoor enthusiast. His biggest concern at the time was heavy, water-sensitive, uncomfortable boots. Seeing a boot soaked in water sparked an idea in his mind.It was the bold idea of stitching a leather upper onto a rubber bottom. This created the "MAINE HUNTING SHOE". With this shoe, Leon Leonwood Bean would go on to found L.L.Bean in 1912.
The MAINE HUNTING SHOE would later give birth to a multitude of variations, all recognized as "Bean Boots". These items have stood the test of time for over 100 years and continue to be loved by many.
