Counterfeit Prevention System 'Akliteia®' Enabled by Non-Replicable High-Definition Printing Technology

The allure of high-end luxury goods attracts many people, and some will even compare different shops to find the cheapest price. However, noticing an unusually low price might lead one to suspect that the product is counterfeit. Unfortunately, there are cases where people have ended up buying counterfeit products this way.

Many manufacturers are implementing measures to prevent the circulation of counterfeit products, such as applying two-dimensional codes for authenticity checks. However, there are limits to these individual efforts. This is where Asahi Kasei Corporation comes in with a new anti-counterfeit solution.

The 'Akliteia®' developed by the company is designed to monitor the entire supply chain, utilizing unique tech and mechanisms different from traditional anti-counterfeit systems. According to the company, the system is full of the knowledge and experience they have built up over the years.

We had the opportunity to interview Chika Takada, Hiroki Akiyama, and Shunya Sakurai from the company. They shared their insights about the technology behind Akliteia® and the social changes this system is expected to bring about.
