The Charm of the Special Exhibition "Perfume COSTUME MUSEUM" Where Music & Fashion Unite

2023.09.01
Since their major debut in 2005, Perfume has been captivating people worldwide with numerous hit songs and innovative performances. Their costumes, which highlight each member's individuality and express the world of their music, can be considered true works of art. These costumes are constantly evolving, with new outfits debuting for each concert, making their performances even more anticipated.
From September 9 to November 26, 2023, the special exhibition "Perfume COSTUME MUSEUM" will be held at the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art, showcasing these costumes all in one place. We interviewed Kozue Hashimoto, a curator specializing in special exhibitions and international exchange at the museum, to discuss the highlights of the exhibition.

First, could you tell us about the background of the "Perfume COSTUME MUSEUM" exhibition?
This special exhibition is organized by the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art in collaboration with Kobe Shimbun. We received the proposal to host the event at our museum during the planning stage initiated by Kobe Shimbun. Given the unique and innovative nature of the costumes, we decided to collaborate on the exhibition and participated right from the research phase.
