In this context, the first brand that comes to mind is RIMOWA and its Original Collection. RIMOWA released the world’s first aluminum suitcase with a groove design in 1950, and despite several model updates, has retained its fundamental design. The Original suitcase has established itself as a staple item for the brand.

The Development of the World's First Aluminum Suitcase
The origins of RIMOWA can be traced back to 1898 when founder Paul Morszeck opened a bag workshop in Cologne, Germany. He crafted trunks using cowhide and wood for the European upper-class vacationers traveling by train. The name RIMOWA was given by Paul’s son, Richard Morszeck. After taking over the workshop, Richard renamed the brand RIMOWA in the 1930s, combining his name with the first letters of the German word Warenzeichen (trademark).
