Since its release in 1967, the Licca-chan doll has been adored for many years. May 3rd marks Licca-chan's birthday, celebrating its 56th anniversary this year.
The project to upcycle clothes with memories into Licca-chan's outfits, "100 My Licca," was carried out by STORY&Co. This company runs a platform business called AND STORY, which supports companies in providing community and experience offerings. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they launched the fashion community "NewMake" to achieve a circular economy. At NewMake Labo in Omotesando, Tokyo, they offer a place where anyone can freely participate, with a focus on the “NewMake” business that reconstructs discarded clothes provided by companies.
Now, a collaboration between NewMake and Takara Tomy has come to fruition. Recently, a "100 My Licca" workshop was held, and the selected works from the entries will be showcased at the 100 My Licca "My Closet" Exhibition at Shibuya Hikarie from May 2 to 7.
