Interest in archives, or past works, in the fashion industry is rising globally. At the same time, Japan's reuse market is expanding year by year with the spread of flea market apps, and Japanese brand second-hand clothing is highly regarded overseas for its careful handling and reliable authenticity checks.
Previously, flea market apps and e-commerce platforms sold everything from fast fashion to luxury brands on a single platform. In January 2020, LOOP, a company developing platforms, launched "OR NOT," a global e-commerce platform specializing in designer brand fashion. Stylists, designers, and editors who agreed with OR NOT's service philosophy participated to expand the e-commerce business to the world. This time, we spoke with LOOP's COO Toru Kashimura about OR NOT's initiatives and his thoughts on sustainability and using good products for a long time.

Graduated from the University of Utah. After serving as the store strategy manager for Rakuten Ichiba, he joined Stripe International Inc. He led business structural reforms in the e-commerce and subscription areas in the Global Fashion EC Department. In April 2018, he co-founded LOOP with Yoshinobu Masushio, the representative director.

Please tell us about the background of how OR NOT was established.
Originally, all of the management team members were engaged in the e-commerce business at a major internet service company, selling products online. After accumulating their respective careers, they founded LOOP.
