Infinite Potential of the Structural Protein Material 'Brewed Protein' in Collaboration with THE NORTH FACE

Based in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture, the pioneering biotechnology company Spiber Inc. is dedicated to developing groundbreaking materials with environmental considerations. In 2013, the company drew attention by unveiling a dress made from an artificial structural protein material that mimics spider silk, which was independently developed.

Since then, they have continued to research protein synthesis, ultimately developing the structural protein material "Brewed Protein™" manufactured through microbial fermentation using plant-based sugars. Spiber initiated the production of protein polymers at their first mass production plant in Thailand in 2022, with plans to scale up production over several years.
 
In 2019, Spiber and Goldwin, the company that markets THE NORTH FACE brand in Japan, co-developed and released the outdoor jacket "MOON PARKA," featuring Brewed Protein fibers, gaining significant attention in the apparel scene.
