Maximal Cushioning & Rebound with a Thick Sole! Experience Energy-Efficient Running with ASICS "Glideride Max"!

Copied to Clipboard
The original "GLIDERIDE" was introduced in 2019, focusing on enabling runners to utilize less energy for longer and more comfortable runs. It adopted the guide sole technology, which efficiently propels the foot forward while reducing energy consumption during running.
By shifting the body's weight naturally forward without pushing off the ground, the runner finds a smoother transition in their stride. This comfortable running experience earned enthusiastic support from many runners.
Two years after the launch of "GLIDERIDE 3," the latest model in the series, "GLIDERIDE MAX" has arrived. What kind of shoes are they?

High Bounce & Maximum Cushion!

The "GLIDERIDE" series has long been studied by ASICS regarding the essence of running and the efficiency of it. It has been developed with a focus on reducing energy consumption and pursuing running efficiency.
Thanks to its proprietary guide sole technology (curved sole design), excessive movements of the ankle are restrained, minimizing energy expenditure.
Building on the original energy-saving philosophy, "GLIDERIDE MAX" is an updated model designed to deliver high bounce and maximum cushioning.
"In response to the worldwide demand from runners for shoes with greater cushioning and superior rebound, GLIDERIDE MAX has been developed as an upgrade to GLIDERIDE 3," stated Shohei Horie of the Performance Running Footwear Division at ASICS.

New Material Used in the Top Layer of the Midsole

"GLIDERIDE MAX" lives up to its name with a thick sole. The thickness measures 44mm at the heel and 38mm at the forefoot (midsole is 33mm/27mm), making it a notably thick model. Furthermore, a new material has been incorporated into the midsole.

"The top of the midsole features the new FF BLAST MAX material. GLIDERIDE MAX is the first model to utilize this FF BLAST MAX, which offers superior rebound compared to FF BLAST PLUS. This significantly contributes to the high bounce of GLIDERIDE MAX.

"The bottom of the midsole consists of FF BLAST PLUS ECO. While maintaining the lightweight, soft, and springy rebound characteristics of FF BLAST PLUS, it has been designed with an environmental focus by incorporating approximately 24% plant-derived materials."

Between the FF BLAST MAX (top of the midsole) and FF BLAST PLUS ECO (bottom of the midsole), a hard EVA plate is installed going from the forefoot to the midfoot. This hard EVA plate enhances the smoothness of foot rotation motions.

Additionally, the midsole of "GLIDERIDE 3" features FF BLAST PLUS on top and FLYTEFOAM PROPEL at the bottom. Thus, the midsole of "GLIDERIDE MAX" excels in both rebound and cushioning in comparison.

Attention to the Outsole!

The outsole features the proprietary HYBRID ASICSGRIP, which combines two types of rubber materials to achieve both grip and durability.

"The ASICSGRIP excels in grip for various surface conditions from the forefoot to the midfoot, while the toe and heel sections, where significant stress occurs upon landing and pushing off, utilize the abrasion-resistant AHARPLUS."

Though the outsole consists of two different rubber materials, it is not divided by material; rather, it is structured as a single piece.

As previously mentioned, the "GLIDERIDE MAX" incorporates a high-density hard EVA plate in the forefoot, which is subject to greater load during push-off. This design mitigates excessive bending at the ankle during running by providing a notable curve.

The shape of the hard EVA plate and the unique configuration of the outsole create a pleasant ride feel and a rolling sensation when moving.

The upper utilizes engineered mesh, which optimizes fit and breathability by varying the knit based on foot anatomy. Attention is also given to the structure around the collar, resulting in a very soft touch against the foot. The heel hold is securely designed, showcasing ASICS’ quality.
