Charcoal's 7 Tools for Enrichening Life
In Kichijoji, there is a street-level store renovated from a building constructed in the Taisho era (1912-1926). At this shop called 'Charcoal TOKYO', items with professional specifications and a playful spirit are displayed. The store is comprised of two original brands, 'ORIGINAL Charcoal' and 'Bodocos', and selected items. Today, we speak with Daisaku Itaya, the Representative Director of Charcoal Ltd., and Buyer/Store Manager Ryo Takei about their stories since the shop's opening and their original brand.

"In 2018, we opened the shop Charcoal TOKYO in Hiroo, Shibuya Ward, and at the same time, our original brand ORIGINAL Charcoal was also launched.
"The theme common to both the shop and the brand is 'seven tools that enrich life'. The first item is a 'pocket T-shirt'. The second item is a 'wearable', which is a hat. Following this, we have 'wraps', items like scarves, bandanas, and towels. The fourth is 'footwear', including socks and sandals, with tie-dyed socks being one of our popular items. Furthermore, 'bags', with drawstring bags being numerous. The sixth is 'clothing', which refers to clothes that accompany pocket T-shirts. Lastly, 'treasures'. Here, we select accessories like vintage 'Tiffany'. We select and build our products based on these seven categories."
