A Brand Redefining the Everyday Carry

Established in Los Angeles in 2017, CODE OF BELL began with a simple mission: to rethink how we carry our daily essentials.

"The brand launched through a crowdfunding campaign, introducing the sling bag at a time when it was still a novel concept. In a market dominated by backpacks, we offered a fresh alternative for men's bags."

The hallmark of their bags is a design philosophy where structure and function are built around real-world use. They carefully consider factors like carry volume, user movement, and changing environments, incorporating features like expandability, easy access, and weather resistance.

Leveraging the design methods and technical expertise honed through their bags, the brand developed the BASI[X] series, a line of lifestyle essentials and accessories.

"This series isn't just about adding new products. It's about re-examining everyday items from a functional standpoint and adapting them to the demands of modern life. The 'VAPOR HAT' is a prime example, perfectly embodying the BASI[X] design philosophy. It takes the familiar design of a baseball cap and elevates it with superior comfort, weather resistance, and usability."

A Structural Approach to Balancing Breathability and Waterproofing

A key focus during the cap's development was tackling the issue of stuffiness, a major factor in comfort. In hot and humid conditions, heat and moisture can easily get trapped inside, leading to discomfort.

"We incorporated laser-cut slits and ventilation holes on the side and back panels. This design allows fresh air to circulate while efficiently releasing trapped heat and moisture."

Additionally, a mesh panel is featured on the inner forehead section to promote airflow and reduce heat buildup. This combination of details ensures lasting comfort, even during extended wear.

However, increasing breathability often comes at the cost of waterproofing, as any opening for air can also become an entry point for rain and UV rays.

"To solve this, we designed the ventilation areas with a layered structure that makes it difficult for rain and UV rays to penetrate from the outside. We also kept the vent holes to a minimal size to maintain the necessary level of protection."

The cap is crafted from ECOPAK, a highly waterproof and durable material. It features a PFC-free water-repellent coating that lessens the environmental impact compared to traditional materials, while also offering low moisture absorption, UV resistance, and excellent colorfastness.

By harmonizing the seemingly contradictory elements of breathability and waterproofness, the cap remains dependable regardless of the weather or environment. This versatility is its greatest strength.

Uncompromising Comfort and Usability

"A cap must be lightweight—that's a basic requirement. The Vapor Hat weighs a mere 83 grams, making it comfortable to wear for extended periods and versatile enough for everything from daily use to active scenarios."

The perforated design on the front visor also helps reduce weight. This technique shaves off extra grams without compromising the visor's shape, contributing to its featherlight feel.

The back features a sliding self-locking adjuster. Unlike typical snapbacks, this allows for seamless size adjustments even while the cap is on your head.
