Practical, Comfortable, Multifunctional, & Affordable. Seamlessly Fits Both City Life & the Outdoors!

As a comprehensive outdoor and sportswear manufacturer, Columbia is a brand with a solid reputation for producing apparel and gear suited for activities such as mountaineering, trekking, camping, skiing, snowboarding, and fishing.
“Among these, the 'Pepper Rock' is an especially versatile series. It stands out for its pocket design ideal for use around town, yet it also has features suitable for mountaineering and trekking. It’s become a popular item that truly offers the best of both worlds. This newest upgrade, the 'Pepper Rock Advance', pushes those strengths even further.”

To protect your devices from impact, it’s preferable for the bottom of the PC sleeve to sit slightly higher than the base of the backpack. When feeling the bottom of the "Pepper Rock," you’ll notice that indeed the PC sleeve is set a bit above the backpack’s bottom panel. This design lets you carry digital devices with peace of mind.
“The second compartment is equipped with an organizer pocket, making it convenient to store digital cables, chargers, batteries, and more. The cushioned sections are also perfect for smartphones. Users are free to decide what goes in the zippered pockets and larger or smaller organizational slots; we aimed for an intuitive layout.”

“For the first time in an urban-use backpack, we included a rain cover as a standard accessory. While Columbia’s outdoor-use backpacks come with a blue rain cover—the brand’s signature color—the Pepper Rock Advance rain cover is designed in grey to blend into urban settings. The rain cover is grey regardless of the bag’s color.”

Since mountain weather can be unpredictable, a rain cover is essential for any outdoor backpack. Even in the city, sudden downpours can occur at any time these days, so having a rain cover in addition to regular rain gear is a smart move. Especially in summer, while you might not mind getting yourself wet, you definitely don’t want the contents of your bag—especially digital devices—getting soaked. That’s why it’s so helpful that a rain cover comes standard.
“For torrential downpours, definitely use the rain cover, but the main material of the backpack is also equipped with Columbia’s proprietary water-repellent technology, 'Omni-Shield,' so light rain will simply bead up and roll off.”

Beyond Excellent Organization: Comfort that Comes from Outdoor Expertise
“As for how it feels to carry, the back structure has evolved significantly compared to previous models. The backpack now features stepped pads with a comfortable amount of cushioning on both sides, enhancing breathability along the back panel. The pads themselves are aerated and feature holes for even better airflow. The entire back is made from mesh, ensuring both comfort and stability against your back.”
The waist belt is convenient when doing outdoor activities because it prevents the backpack from swaying back and forth or side to side. However, in the city, such measures may not always be necessary. In those situations, the belt could even get in the way, so it is designed to be removable.
"You can easily attach and remove the waist belt as needed. When you attach the waist belt and fasten it in front of your body, the integrated wings on both sides of the main body provide a snug fit to your hips. I hope you get to experience this comfort outdoors. If you remove the belt, the integrated wings blend into the body, giving it a clean look that’s perfect for everyday city use."

When carrying a backpack for long periods, such as during mountain climbing, lightly pulling on the stabilizer at the top of the shoulder harness provides excellent stability on your shoulders and makes carrying much more comfortable. The stabilizer also lets your body move naturally from side to side, making a world of difference in comfort compared to backpacks without one.
"If you’re carrying more weight around town, such as digital devices or documents, the benefits of the stabilizer are just as noticeable. The stabilizer helps bring the pack closer to your body, preventing the weight from shifting outward.
"Additionally, the pocket on the side of the backpack closer to your back (compared to the top handle) can be easily accessed with one hand while holding the pack, making it handy for storing small items that you frequently use."
