Lifestyle Proposals for Mature Women, Born from ADAM ET ROPÉ

"SALON adam et ropé" renewed its brand image to focus on mature women
"SALON adam et ropé" is a brand celebrating its 13th year since establishment. Originally launched as a spin-off of ADAM ET ROPÉ, it started as a lifestyle brand offering not only apparel but also home goods and daily items.
In 2022, the brand reached a major turning point, undergoing an internal rebranding to pivot strongly toward fashion. Redefining its target audience to focus on women in their late 30s to 50s—particularly those in their 40s—the brand committed to crafting tailored offerings for mature women.
Today, SALON adam et ropé focuses on carefully curated, high-quality apparel. By supporting the busy lifestyles of its target customers through a focus on practicality and quality alongside design, the brand has established a solid foundation.

A "Salon" as a Gathering Place to Warm Your Heart by 1°C

The word "salon" in the brand name reflects their vision of creating a gathering place where people can discover refined items. This concept emphasizes the value of visiting a physical store in an era dominated by online shopping, where buying items on a screen is effortless.
Unlike conventional retail stores, the brand designs spaces filled with valuable items selected through its unique lens. The goal is to create a physical environment where customers can visit and engage in natural communication with staff and fellow shoppers through the products.
The brand's concept is "items that warm your heart by 1°C." This encompasses the intuitive comfort and soft texture felt the moment you put on a garment, along with the satisfaction of wearing functional, quality materials. Adding to this is the fulfillment of choosing eco-friendly, sustainable products aligned with modern social values.
Since the rebranding, the team has deepened partnerships with domestic sewing factories and textile mills to elevate quality. Representatives personally visit textile-producing regions across Japan to partner with factories whose production ethics align with the brand’s philosophy.
Beyond physical comfort, the brand believes its true value lies in providing an experience that makes customers feel like they are taking good care of themselves.

The Immense Challenge of Producing Organic Chenille Yarn

The development of the brand's signature new material was sparked by lifestyle changes during the COVID-19 pandemic. As people spent more time at home, demand grew for clothing that combined indoor comfort with stylish design.
This led the brand to focus on chenille yarn made from Indian organic cotton. Chenille yarn features a unique tufted structure; when knitted, it produces a velvet-like luster and a smooth, luxurious texture.

While most chenille yarns available on the market are made from synthetic fibers such as polyester, SALON adam et ropé insisted on using cotton, a natural fiber. This choice was driven by a strong desire to offer the unique comfort that only natural fibers can provide.
However, bringing it to market proved exceptionally difficult. Because the yarn itself is finely brushed, it snapped easily during the knitting process, presenting a serious challenge with remarkably low production efficiency.
Through repeated trial and error at factories in Japan and abroad, the team meticulously adjusted machinery and refined knitting techniques. Trying numerous structural knits—including jersey stitch—countless hours and effort were spent to discover the optimal knitting method that maximized the yarn's qualities while standing up to mass production.

The Ultimate "CreamyCotton"—The Fruit of 5 Years of Development

"CreamyCotton"—pursuing a soft, enveloping touch on the skin
Overcoming these production challenges, the fabric made its commercial debut in the fall of 2021 as "CreamyCotton." To ensure long-lasting durability across all seasons, annual wear-testing is conducted as part of the production process.
Now, roughly five years after its inception, an optimal knit structure has been established, positioning CreamyCotton as an essential signature fabric for the brand. Customers who feel the products in stores are amazed by the soft texture, with many becoming repeat buyers after wearing them just once.
Today, the collection offers staple pieces including pullovers, cardigans, and pants, all designed for effortless styling.

Looking ahead to the Fall/Winter 2026 season, new knit jackets and matching sets are scheduled for release. These are being developed as versatile pieces suitable for a variety of occasions, from long travel hours on business trips to relaxing in a resort hotel lounge.
This philosophy extends beyond CreamyCotton and inspires new material developments. One such innovation is "Gentle Silk," which preserves the natural texture of silk while featuring a vintage-like finish achieved through sand-washing, along with the convenience of being home-washable.
Even as materials evolve, the core belief remains the same: "to deliver items that bring daily comfort and can be cherished for years to come." Both CreamyCotton and Gentle Silk are materials born from this vision.

Supporting Indian Farmers to Spin a Sustainable Future

The Indian organic cotton used in "CreamyCotton" is a highly reliable raw material backed by international certifications. India was chosen not only for its superior quality, but also to ensure a transparent supply chain while avoiding risks such as human rights issues in specific regions.
SALON adam et ropé is currently preparing a donation program to support organizations that assist Indian cotton farmers in transitioning from conventional farming to organic cultivation.
This initiative is driven by the brand's policy to increase the proportion of low-environmental-impact raw materials used, such as natural fibers and recycled polyester. Alongside enhancing the in-store customer experience, pursuing transparency and sustainability across the production background serves as a crucial pillar for the brand.
Moving forward, the brand plans to expand its footprint of directly managed stores, giving more customers the opportunity to touch the products and experience their quality firsthand.
The brand philosophy of "raising your heart's temperature by 1°C" extends beyond mere wearing comfort to encompass environmental care and ethical production. CreamyCotton is undoubtedly the material that best embodies this vision.
