Sea Me Linen: The Ukrainian Brand Upholding Pride in Domestic Production Amidst the Flames of War in Odesa

2026.02.16
In Odesa, a Ukrainian port city overlooking the Black Sea and a place once celebrated as a bustling resort, Natalya Ishchenko and Eteri Saneblidze have cultivated their lifestyle brand, Sea Me Linen.
The brand was born from a fusion of three elements: the sound of waves setting the rhythm of life, the deep-seated tranquility of the coast, and the subtle, organic texture of natural materials. Its philosophy is to deliver a "small sea to dive into every night" to its customers.
From their serendipitous discovery of linen and a made-to-order model that champions sustainability, to their unyielding dedication to their craft amid the ravages of war—we follow the brand's journey as told by Natalya.

An Encounter with a Material Tied to the Sea

One day in their twenties, during their travels, the pair discovered a single linen sheet in a small Parisian shop. It was a moment that would fundamentally reshape their values and worldview. "I was astonished that the fabric itself could possess such a strong 'personality,'" Natalya recounts.
For the duo, who were used to the uniform smoothness of cotton, linen's unique texture was a revelation. Its slubs (the small knots in the thread) spoke of the plant's vitality, and its soft luster seemed to dance and shift with the light. "It's as if linen is living its own life. The more you use it, the more it softens and adapts to your skin, maturing beautifully over time." This discovery of a material that embraces aging brought them a profound realization: it was time to "slow down the pace of life."
Returning to Odesa, the two decided to create their ideal linen products with their own hands. The brand name "Sea Me" was inspired by the intuition that surrendering to the "Sea" is synonymous with returning to "Me" (oneself). They aimed to start a quiet revolution, transforming the bedroom into a "sea to dive into every night."

A Mature Philosophy: "Fewer, Better Things"

In our twenties, we often neglect our bedroom's decor as long as it's functional. But when the excitement of the outside world is no longer enough, we start turning our attention inward. Since their founding in 2015, they have championed the idea of "valuing fewer, better things."
All Sea Me Linen products are made-to-order, sewn one by one after an order is placed. This choice not only reflects a sustainable approach by minimizing material waste but also ensures that the warmth of the creator is infused into every single piece.
They use 100% high-quality European linen certified by OEKO-TEX®, guaranteeing it is free from harmful substances. In particular, their mid-weight fabric, treated with a unique stonewashing process, boasts a perfectly 'worn-in' drape and a soft touch, feeling as if it has been cherished for years, even when brand new.
The beauty of their color palette is also breathtaking. Nuanced colors that reflect natural landscapes, such as "Sand," "Moss," and "Graphite," create a stunning harmony not only on their own but also when layered with different shades. Much like layering in fashion, combining different colored pillowcases and sheets can add depth and dimension to a space.

The Choice to Continue Amidst War

The 2022 invasion of Ukraine struck the founders while they were continuing their craft at their own pace.
"There were times I wondered what the point was in making bedding when our lives were under threat."
Although they briefly sank into despair, they made the decision to keep their production base within the country.
"Ukraine is the very DNA of our brand. Working in a studio with intermittent power is extremely difficult, but continuing to create here is our pride and our way of supporting our country."
This unwavering dedication has been communicated to customers worldwide through their products, expanding a circle of support.

Expanding into a Boundary-Free Lifestyle

Today, the world of Sea Me Linen extends beyond just bedding. It has expanded to include loungewear with relaxed, non-restrictive silhouettes and table linens that brighten up the dining space. In particular, the apparel, which leverages linen's characteristic coolness and moisture-wicking properties, strikes a perfect balance between the comfort of loungewear and a sophisticated design that looks just as good worn outside.
The "ODESA SET" linen pajamas. The striped pattern is symbolic of the sea, reflecting the journey of the Ukrainian people as they leave their homeland to adapt to new surroundings.
The 'KIMONO SET' linen pajamas, featuring a liberating fit for unrestricted movement, wide sleeves that evoke the waves of Katsushika Hokusai, and a gracefully flowing silhouette.
Natalya dreams of one day opening a shop in Japan, particularly in Tokyo. "As a cutting-edge metropolis that also deeply respects craftsmanship, Japanese culture is something I'm sure will resonate with our values," she says.
"Living by the sea means stepping away from the clamor of the world and listening to your own voice."
"Sea Me Linen" weaves a story of reclaiming the inner rhythm so easily lost in our efficiency-driven modern society. The sea, the materials, and the handiwork. The tranquil fabric born from their convergence gently envelops someone's life tonight.
