The Base Model Is the Long-selling "Solano Hoody"

First, please tell us about the base model, the "Solano Hoody."
It debuted in 2009 as a hoody-type shell jacket. This hiking model utilizes GORE-TEX WINDSTOPPER®, which combines windproof, waterproof, and breathable properties.
What kind of material is it?
It is made from a material that features breathability and WINDSTOPPER® functionality. While it's not fully waterproof like GORE-TEX®, the membrane itself does not allow water to pass through, providing excellent water resistance.

The "Solano Hoody" is also frequently seen in urban settings.
This model is among the top for comfort within Arc'teryx's shelter range. Its three-dimensional structure allows for easy movement, and the choice of lightweight and soft fabric makes it casual enough for everyday wear. The minimalist design, stripped of ornamentation, allows for versatile styling.

What was the intention behind developing a down version of this shell?
With the "Solano Hoody," it was possible to layer fleece, down, or insulation underneath to accommodate winter hikes. The newly introduced "Solano Down Hoody" provides sufficient warmth on its own, without the need for layering.
Additionally, by offering a down jacket that employs GORE-TEX WINDSTOPPER® and soft fabric, we aim to broaden the enjoyment of outdoor activities.
Upon closer inspection, it seems different materials are used in various parts.
The body and sleeves feature GORE-TEX WINDSTOPPER®, ensuring windproof, waterproof, and breathable properties.
Meanwhile, the underarm and side panels are made of the soft shell fabric "Fortius™ 1.0," which offers stretchability, breathability, wind resistance, and water repellency.
This dual-material approach enhances ease of movement and ventilation.
The sleek silhouette is also a characteristic inherited from the "Solano Hoody." At first glance, it doesn’t look like a down jacket.
Thanks to the internal distribution of down packs, it maintains a streamlined appearance unexpected from a down jacket. However, this is not just design; by avoiding bumps on the exterior, we reduce friction damage when carrying a backpack, ensuring durability over time.
The three-dimensional form follows the contours of the human body, increasing mobility while shedding unnecessary fabric for a lighter construction.
Arc'teryx's minimalist design philosophy and three-dimensional structure serve to promote smooth movement.
So, there's significance to the simple design. Now, could you tell us about the insulation properties?
The insulation consists of gray goose down. With a fill power of 750, it's fully capable of handling outdoor activities in winter. However, insulation isn't limited to just down.
Is that so?
For areas where warmth is crucial, such as the arms and torso, down is used, while materials like PrimaLoft synthetic insulation, known for its quick-drying and breathable qualities, are employed in more water-prone areas like the collar, cuffs, and armpits. This is part of the brand's unique Down Composite Mapping System.
This is a clear case of using the right material for the right place. How about the details?
Although subtle, the jacket is equipped with a zippered chest pocket, hand warmer pockets on both sides, and an internal pocket. The cuffs feature a gasket to prevent wind from entering. The down-filled hood is adjustable with a cord.

The use of colors is exquisite.
This season, we are offering a total of 4 colors. It is often said that our color usage is unique, and it is our in-house color designers who are responsible for this. As their title suggests, they are designers dedicated solely to product colors, traveling around the world to draw inspiration from various landscapes. They consider how the product appears in different environments, even down to the color of the stitching.

A Piece that Embodies the Essence of "Arc'teryx" from Design to Detail

How has the response been since its debut this season?
Sales have been strong. It is an updated model of our classic shell turned down jacket, so there's a sense of reliability. It appeals to a wide range of age groups, and many people use it as an outer layer for the city.
Who would you recommend the 'Solano Down Hoodie' to?
Wearing the product really showcases its attributes: it is incredibly light, with a soft outer fabric that offers sufficient insulation, making it a truly versatile outerwear piece.
For instance, you can hike in the mountains in the morning and then head straight to the city in the afternoon. It also features a durable water-repellent finish on the surface, so you can be assured in the rain or snow.
Furthermore, from design to functionality and coloring, it encapsulates the brand's essence, making it a highly recommended choice for anyone looking to purchase their first Arc'teryx product.
This is the birth of a new outerwear that will be etched into Arc'teryx's history.
