Sandals Have Evolved This Far! SUICOKE Delivers Supreme Comfort for Your Feet

2025.08.04
Sandals that brighten up your summer look have become a fashion essential. However, it’s tough to find a pair that combines striking design with features supporting your everyday life.
That’s why SUICOKE sandals are beloved as a summer staple, blending high fashion appeal with top-tier functionality to thrive in a variety of settings.
Why do SUICOKE’s sandals integrate so effortlessly into everyday outfits while also excelling outdoors? To uncover the secret, we spoke with the SUICOKE design team.

Unmatched Comfort Achieved through Original & Collaborative Innovation

SUICOKE began as a footwear brand in 2006. At the root of their craftsmanship is a simple philosophy: “make exactly what we ourselves want to wear.”
“Ever since the brand launched, we haven’t chased trends. Instead, we’ve focused on adding a creative twist or enhanced functions to timeless pieces and historic products. Most sandals then focused either on functionality or style, but rarely both. What we wanted was to build sandals delivering both.”
Lightweight, flexible, shock-absorbing, durable, and responsive, with a minimalist design that flatters any outfit—these strengths define SUICOKE sandals.
Such outstanding features are achieved by adjusting the composition of the rubber used for the footbeds and outsoles. These innovations are powered by the close-knit collaboration with manufacturing partners and the extensive experience SUICOKE’s designers have gathered across a broad range of footwear.
In 2012, the brand released sandals equipped with the uniquely developed "SUICOKE original EVA Footbed."
“The original EVA footbed is exceptionally flexible and cushions the foot just enough to make for a relaxed, comfortable step. Although they’re sandals, they allow for a comfort in walking you’ve never felt before.”

Then in 2014, they unveiled a footbed co-developed with outsole specialist "Vibram." While plenty of sandals use Vibram outsoles, SUICOKE was the first in the industry to incorporate Vibram's technology into the footbed itself.
A footbed co-developed with Vibram. It's rare for the two brands' logos to appear side by side on one product.
“We maximized Vibram’s expertise in rubber formulation for footwear to create a truly state-of-the-art footbed. It resists wear-and-tear despite repeated compression, delivers a bouncy step like a sneaker, and its excellent grip means reduced risk of slipping in wet conditions.”
Both the original and Vibram footbeds include thoughtful details—with raised bumps at the heel, arch, and toe areas to keep your feet stable and minimize sliding. The pronounced heel support especially fights the “heel sink” effect that plagues most sandals, for lasting quality and feel.
Bumps are placed at the heel, arch, and toe to stabilize your step and prevent slipping as you walk.
SUICOKE’s popularity surged around 2015, when sports sandals became a mainstream fashion style. Their balanced mix of utility and chic, minimal design helped them become a favorite in both fashion and outdoor circles alike.

The Thought & Detail Behind Beloved Current Models

Let’s take a look at the attention to detail built into today’s flagship models.
“Released in 2015, the 'KISEE' is a standout for its sneaker-like comfort. While most sports sandals only have straps over the toe and ankle, KISEE ups the hold with a strap over the instep, so you get a snug, supportive fit.”

The underside of each strap is lined with cushioning to ensure a gentle feel against the skin. By minimizing exposed skin, SUICOKE also makes it easier for people who are self-conscious about showing their feet to wear these sandals with confidence.
Cushioning on the under-strap prevents uncomfortable rubbing against your skin.
The following year, they introduced the "MOTO," a slider-style sandal with adjustable straps over the instep. Most slide sandals offer little in the way of fit adjustments, but the double-strap design here lets you fine-tune comfort for your foot.
"MOTO-VS (OG-056VS)," featuring a Vibram co-developed footbed, 19,800 yen (tax included)
"MOTO-PO (OG-056PO)," with SUICOKE’s original EVA footbed, 22,000 yen (tax included)
"We added an adjustable, movable pad to the upper so that it gently wraps around the top of the foot. By adjusting it to target the areas where you want more pressure, it offers a better fit, which also helps prevent the outsole heel from dragging during walking."
Because the upper is equipped with an adjustment function, it allows for a superior fit to your foot.
Debuting in 2019, "URICH" is an injection-molded sandal created by pouring materials into a mold. While most typical injection sandals are made as a single piece with the footbed and outsole, URICH is uniquely molded in separate parts.

"For both the footbed and upper, we use soft materials for extra comfort, while the outsole is crafted from a sturdier material known for its grip and abrasion resistance, resulting in a more enjoyable wearing experience. Additionally, the strap is sewn in place, just like our other sandals, to enhance support."
It's not just the comfort—SUICOKE pays close attention to odor prevention. While some sandals apply odor-fighting coatings or antibacterial treatments to the footbed, once the coating wears off, those effects are lost.
That's why SUICOKE kneads antibacterial agents directly into the rubber of select footbeds (jointly developed with Vibram) and original EVA footbeds for a semi-permanent odor-blocking effect.
Although antibacterial features weren't present when initially launched, this is one of many functions introduced in response to user feedback and shifting lifestyles.

Aiming to Be a Brand You’ll Want to Buy Again & Again

SUICOKE's outsoles have continuously evolved to keep up with the times. For example, the "Arctic Grip Sole," which resists slipping on ice, is an excellent example of how Vibram’s technology fuses with SUICOKE’s exceptional design sense.
The orange section contains fine particles, maintaining the rubber’s grip strength even on cold, icy surfaces.
"Although this technology is generally used in winter boots, SUICOKE adopted it for shoes with minimalistic design. It provides slip resistance not just for frozen pavements but for everyday situations—like slippery train stations or inside convenience stores."
Unlike footwear brands that focus on one specific category, SUICOKE stands out for its ability to craft a diverse product range—from dress shoes to sneakers to sandals—using a variety of manufacturing techniques.
"Going forward, we will not only update our existing lineup but also introduce new features catering to evolving lifestyles. Rather than being a fleeting trend, we aim to become a trusted brand that people want to come back to time after time, loved for years."
By balancing function with style and continually evolving, SUICOKE’s relentless drive for innovation will undoubtedly bring new value to your step for years to come.
