VT COSMETICS is strongly associated with skincare, particularly "Reedle Shot." What inspired the brand to focus on scalp care this time?

Interest in scalp care has surged in South Korea recently.

A combination of factors has driven this trend, from K-pop idols making waves by using uniquely shaped scalp massagers to growing concerns about scalp odor during humid seasons. Amid this momentum, we wanted to offer a fresh, innovative solution.

The "PDRN+ Reedle S Brush Hair Serum" reportedly generated a strong buzz on social media after its launch. What aspect do you think resonates most with users?

The biggest factor is likely its convenience, driven by the integrated brush-and-serum design. Traditional scalp care involved multiple steps—applying, working it in, and massaging—which we believed made it hard for people to stay consistent.

With this product, you can apply serum directly to the scalp while smoothly gliding the brush to massage it in one motion. Combining application and massage into a single step reduces the effort previously required for scalp care routines.

Could you share the specific instructions for use?

It is very simple to use. First, remove the cap and turn the ▼ mark on the brush head to the "ON" position to open it. Pressing the container while holding the brush against your scalp dispenses the serum between the bristles. Then, gently glide the brush along the flow of your hair, working it in as if massaging.

When is the best time to use it?

We generally recommend using it after towel-drying your scalp following a shampoo. However, because it features a refreshing, non-sticky water-gel formula, it can also be used on dry hair. Its portability and ease of use whenever you notice scalp dryness or itchiness during the day are key advantages.

What key ingredients are included in the formula?

The core ingredient is low-molecular plant-derived PDRN+™, sourced from Korean ginseng, which restores firmness and moisture to dry scalps. It is a moisturizing ingredient combining Sodium DNA and Panax Ginseng Root Extract, complemented by caffeine to tone the scalp and hydrating agents like silk amino acids.

It also contains "CICA REEDLE®," a beauty needle ingredient synonymous with VT. While it is a familiar ingredient in skincare, what is the intended goal for the scalp?

CICA REEDLE® is VT's proprietary ingredient combining Centella Asiatica extract (skin conditioning) and silica (exfoliant). It was developed around the concept of facilitating the delivery of beauty ingredients to the stratum corneum through delicate stimulation provided by silica. We have applied the approach cultivated in facial skincare—"how to deliver beauty ingredients to the stratum corneum"—to scalp care as well.

Are there any differences in the formulation approach between skincare products and scalp care products?

While there are commonalities, this serum features a hair-exclusive formulation that is rarely included in skincare items. Its main effect is focused on "hydration" rather than directly claiming hair growth benefits, but thanks to its convenience and the proven track record of CICA REEDLE®, many people are incorporating it into their self-care routines. Leveraging its convenience and our accumulated expertise with CICA REEDLE®, we aimed for a formulation and design that easily integrates into daily self-care.
