We interviewed YUMIKO, Creative Director of the holistic beauty brand "ICOR" which integrates the blessings of Hokkaido nature, using Mount Yotei water, birch sap, and collagen made from salmon, all based in Niseko, Hokkaido.
Drawn by the Strength of Hokkaido's Nature to Create Cosmetics
"Our company representative, Mari Takeshita, previously lived in Shanghai and Singapore and launched a skincare brand in Shanghai.
"Takeshita always felt that overseas customers highly trust Japanese and Japan-made skincare brands. Additionally, from an international perspective, the Niseko area of Hokkaido is far more well-known and attractive than Japanese people might think. After much research, we began creating our brand in this place.
"We strongly felt the beauty of Mount Yotei, also known as Ezo Fuji, the super soft spring water, and the resilience of the organisms that thrive despite the cold. We believed these could be utilized in skincare."
We learned about the origin of the brand name, which incorporates the blessings of Niseko, Hokkaido's nature, as well as the key items and new cosmetics since the start.
