NFC Chip-Enabled Nails from KIKI World, Where You Can Accumulate Points by Voting & Using Products

There exists a brand that combines the decentralized Internet technology known as 'Web3' and 'cosmetics'. Its name is 'KIKI World'.
KIKI World utilizes the characteristics of Web3 such as 'decentralization' and 'co-creation with the community', allowing users to determine new product colors through voting. Points are awarded for contributions to the brand, such as voting and product use, which can be exchanged for product discounts and limited contents.
In 2023, KIKI World unveiled a unique cosmetic item never seen before – an 'NFC-enabled nail'. NFC stands for near field communication, a technology also used in smartphones with wallet functions and transportation ICs such as Suica and PASMO.
In this article, we talk to Jana Bobosikova, the founder of KIKI World, about the background behind the establishment of KIKI World, the details of the NFC-enabled nails, and future prospects.

Key Differences between KIKI World & Traditional Brands

While KIKI World is a brand that leverages the latest technologies such as blockchain to provide products and experiences with the community, what exactly sets it apart from other cosmetics brands?
Firstly, a significant difference is the 'voting function' mentioned at the beginning. The brand places importance on listening to what kind of products the community wants, and voting is a characteristic of KIKI World where products are co-created. Members can vote every day on products the brand plans to create, and points are awarded for each vote which can be used for product purchases.
Next, each KIKI product comes with an NFC tag, which pairs with the customer's account to award points for every product use (not just purchase).
While traditional brands award points for purchases of their products, a major difference with KIKI World is that points are also awarded for contributions to the brand (like voting and use).
"Currently, the general practice is for a system where only brands profit, with no rewards given for users' contributions to the brand. We aim to solve this using technologies like blockchain," said Jana.
KIKI World is committed to creating a system that rewards customer activities towards the brand, with the customers actively involved in the production and development of products.

NFC Chip-Enabled Nail with the Potential to Change the World

KIKI World has been giving points for each product use by attaching an NFC chip to cosmetic items up until now, but in 2023, they launched a product with an NFC chip attached not to the cap but to the nail itself.
By bringing a smartphone close to the nail, it can be connected to the user's profile, enabling the user to establish new connections with people they meet for the first time in a novel way. What led to the birth of this NFC chip-enabled nail?
"When Winny, one of the initial members of KIKI World, suggested launching Chip with KIKI (NFC chip-enabled nail), we were more than excited.
"Our goal is to give rewards to all creators, stores, and audiences, and to co-produce products incorporating the community's opinions.
"Products equipped with NFC chips form the core for realizing our objective.
"While we can't ignore the manufacturing challenges to ensure that the secure and encrypted NFC tags don't break during mass production, we will overcome these to aim to connect the world through nails," shared Jana.
There's been a huge response to the NFC chip-enabled nail, which gained over a million impressions on X alone in the first few days it was unveiled at an event in Turkey.
Getting covered by media outlets in Asia, Europe, and America, the intuitive and easy-to-use NFC chip-enabled nail could potentially sweep the world.
