Due to the increased time spent wearing masks in daily life, more people are experiencing weakened facial muscles. Introducing the "Lourdes Style EMS Mask." This mask incorporates EMS technology, using low-frequency microcurrents to approach the muscles and provide exercise. It allows for facial care while wearing a mask.

Additionally, Lourdes Style offers a sheet-type EMS exercise device, the "Lourdes Style EMS Sheet Nexa,” which has become a hit product. What are the secrets behind these technologies and the benefits of incorporating EMS into daily life?

In recent years, masks have become an essential item due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Even though mask-wearing guidelines have been relaxed and as of May 8 this year, COVID-19 has been reclassified to the same category as seasonal influenza, some people still wear masks in offices and on public transport.

Developed to Prevent Facial Muscle Weakness and Sagging

When wearing masks, facial expressions are not visible to others, reducing the frequency of using facial muscles compared to when not wearing one. As a result, more people feel a decline in muscle tone and sagging around the mouth and cheeks.

To address this, the fitness equipment brand Lourdes Style has released the "Lourdes Style EMS Mask" equipped with EMS technology.

EMS stands for Electrical Muscle Stimulation. When humans exercise, commands from the brain become electrical signals that pass through motor nerves, stimulating muscle fibers to move. EMS replaces these electrical signals to approach the muscles. It has been used in rehabilitation for some time but is now increasingly utilized in fitness.

"The Lourdes Style EMS Mask stimulates areas of concern such as around the nasolabial folds, facial lines, and neck with low-frequency microcurrents. The electrodes that convey the EMS are placed in two points on each side, targeting muscles like the temporalis and masseter in the chewing muscles group, the sternocleidomastoid used when moving the neck, the zygomatic major used for raising the corners of the mouth, and the orbicularis oculi used for eyelid movements," explains Shoya Atarashi, who is in charge of product development at Atex Co., Ltd., the company behind Lourdes Style.
