Established in 2013, Carry On inc. offers a children's clothing sharing service called "Carry On." The service allows customers to purchase second-hand children's clothing, which cycles quickly, at affordable prices, and also sell children’s clothes that no longer fit.
As of 2023, online platforms for individual trading, like flea market apps and auctions, have become well-established. However, when Carry On started its service in 2014, such platforms were not as prevalent.
Why did they decide to launch a children's clothing sharing service? We asked founder Kenji Yoshizawa about the inspiration and concept behind Carry On, the company’s strengths, the process from purchase to sale, and its future aspirations.

First, could you tell us about the inspiration and concept behind Carry On?
Children grow quickly, and even if you purchase new clothes, they often outgrow them after just one season. In the past, hand-me-downs and exchanges among relatives and neighbors were common, but such customs have diminished in modern times. The idea of creating a nationwide online "hand-me-down" service was the inspiration for launching Carry On.
