'ARMY TWILL' – A New Interpretation of Military Wear
'ARMY TWILL', born in America in the 1940s, is thought to have been a pioneering force that showcased military wear as fashion. Fast forward about 80 years to 2020, and it has kicked off with a fresh concept. Today, we hear from Tada Shuhei, the designer, about the current state of ARMY TWILL.
A Pioneering Presence in Military Fashion
"While the culture of wearing military clothing released by the military as fashion was already in place in the 1940s, I believe that the presence of ARMY TWILL, interpreting military wear as fashion and operating as a brand from the beginning, indicates that they had a relatively early sense for the times."The very name of the brand, ARMY TWILL, is actually the name of a fabric. The fact that items made of 'army twill' fabric were being produced by famous denim brands suggests that it may have been a trendy fabric at the time".
