Nike continues to churn out epoch-making sneaker designs. Among them, the 'AIR MAX 1' is touted as the originator of high-tech sneakers.Nike's sneakers are often equipped with technology that infuses air into the sole. This technology, developed by aeronautical engineer Frank Rudy in the late 1970s, was named the "Air Cushioning System" – a monumental innovation in sneaker history.
Kamamoto explains that the 'AIR MAX 1' was the next step in utilizing this Air Cushioning System.
"This technology was installed in the 'Air Tailwind' released in 1978. It had a problem – when the center of gravity fell on the heel, the airbag had no escape from the exerted pressure.
