Origins in a Clockmaker Renowned for High-Quality Pocket Watches
Last year marked the 170th anniversary of Timex, a brand whose roots trace back to a clock manufacturing company founded in Waterbury, Connecticut.
"When the company was established in 1854, large clocks placed on floors or mantels were still mainstream, and even pocket watches were luxury items accessible only to a small group of wealthy people.
Waterbury was known as one of the top brassworks hubs in the United States. Timex leveraged this local brass-processing expertise to successfully mass-produce high-quality pocket watches."
