If you observe the sneakers of people on the street, in most cases, you can identify the brand instantly by the logo on the upper or the design of the side panels.
In such a sneaker scene, one exception that stands out is "SUN℃ORE."
There's no logo on the upper, nor are there any distinctive details or color schemes. The only way to identify the brand is the logo stamped on the insole. At a glance, it's impossible to tell which brand it belongs to.
Despite this, the brand has steadily increased its recognition, and their popular models remain in short supply. Featured in fashion magazines, SUN℃ORE has gained many fans among stylists, store PR personnel, and makeup artists within the fashion industry.
It is a brand that remains stoic about not making statements. This time, let's delve into the craftsmanship of the enigmatic SUN℃ORE.

Functional Details Hidden in a Stylish Design

We interviewed Goto from Marumi Corporation, who handles SUN℃ORE.
"We started SUN℃ORE in 2019. The design is handled by Marumi's design team, while production is carried out in a factory located in Tokyo.
"The origin of our craftsmanship lies in the question: what would happen if a skilled Japanese shoemaker, uncompromising in both materials and manufacturing methods, made sneakers?"
Let's look at the actual product. The focus is on the brand's flagship model, which boasts the highest popularity each season, the "night camp light."
Designed with the "night outdoor scene" in mind, the second model in the camp series emphasizes safety at night by using plenty of reflective leather. "night camp light," 45,100 yen (tax included)

"The design maintains a delicate balance between not being low-tech nor high-tech. Even in terms of color, we avoid using vivid colors and opt for monochrome or earth-tone colors for a unified look."
There are no logos or side panels indicating the brand. However, by intricately combining parts made from different materials in various shapes, it enhances its presence. Because genuine leather is used instead of synthetic leather, it gives off a distinct sense of luxury compared to typical sneakers.
"SUN℃ORE's sneakers are not just fashionable shoes; they are gear designed for comfortable walking. Each detail is given a functional role."
For example, the shoelace design. Extending from the toe to the heel, the laces improve overall fit. The heel adjuster allows you to adjust the fit, so there's no need to tie the laces.
Additionally, the laces themselves are made of a durable stretch material, allowing the shoes to be worn like slip-on shoes. Reflective parts are also incorporated throughout the upper to enhance safety at night.

High-Tech Soles from Vibram Elevate the Specs

The rounded form is also one of its features.
"SUN℃ORE uses Vibram soles for most of its models that are intended for the outdoors. When designing the upper to match these soles, it naturally takes on this form."
Italian company Vibram, which started producing soles for climbing boots in the 1930s, is one of the world's most trusted sole manufacturers, relied upon by numerous renowned shoe brands.
"Considering factors like grip and durability, Vibram soles are unmatched. This model uses the 'Vibram MegaGrip Series #186C,' which is designed for slippery mountain trails and wet roads. It features an arched shape that adapts to the foot's bending and rotation.
"Moreover, the high-tech soles also incorporate 'RGS (Rolling Gait System),' which converts the landing impact into energy while supporting natural foot movements. As the model name suggests, the specs are more than sufficient for the outdoor scene."
