Waste in the apparel industry is a serious problem. That's why various companies are working on how to reduce waste, including re-evaluating the manufacturing process and collecting used clothing.
However, it's not just about recycling used clothes into new clothing. The fiber trading company STYLEM TAKISADA-OSAKA Co., Ltd. is working on the "PLUS∞GREEN PROJECT," which turns clothing into soil.
This time, we spoke with Kazuya Sakamoto from the company's R&D Division about the aims of this project and the allure of the soil made from clothing.

R&D Division. Born in 1987 in Shingu City, Wakayama Prefecture. Joined TAKISADA-OSAKA (now STYLEM TAKISADA-OSAKA) in 2009. Has been involved in the textile business for 12 years and received the Company's Best Employee Award in 2017. Has been in charge of the PLUS∞GREEN PROJECT in the R&D Division since fiscal 2021.

First, could you please tell us about the projects you are developing?
Our company is a textile trading company with over 150 years of history, developing businesses in four fields: textiles, raw materials, apparel products, and lifestyle.
In particular, in the textile business, we are developing and selling textile planning with our strengths not only domestically but also in 12 overseas locations around the world.
