When discussing fashion, "youth" is an indispensable element. At first glance, it seems that young people still lead fashion in contemporary society. However, when asked strictly what "youth" means, it may be difficult to provide a clear answer. Therefore, we approached the complex aspects of 'youth' alongside the keyword 'location' from a cultural sociology perspective, speaking with Assistant Professor Eriko Kimura of Japan Women’s University about how "youth" and "location" have been discussed and how they can be articulated now.

Youth as a Vanguard of Social Change
To begin, can you briefly explain the content of your research?
My specialization is cultural sociology. Specifically, I have been contemplating youth culture, the visual imagery of women, and the contemporary issues of media culture related to love, as well as how these differ from modernity.
In considering these topics, the activities within social media have become extremely important, so I have recently been conducting research mainly on Instagram as part of women's media culture. I would like to discuss this research further later.
