Roots in Expedition Down Jackets Designed for the Mountaineering "Death Zone"
I spoke with Keita Sasaki, a designer for the brand.
"The birth of the Nuptse Jacket is closely related to the development of the expedition system that began in the '80s. The series was a layering system that connected shells, insulation, and accessories to enhance their functionality in harsh weather conditions. The North Face utilized the know-how acquired from the development of this system to complete the Nuptse Jacket."
