Pioneering Sports Sandal Brand "SHAKA" Introduces the "NEO BUNGY EX"
The sandal brand SHAKA started in South Africa in the mid-1990s. About 30 years ago, as the term "sports sandals" and the style of wearing sandals in outdoor fields were being introduced, SHAKA was already available in Japan and appeared at outdoor music festivals, pioneering the sports sandal concept.
Today, SHAKA’s items have remarkably evolved, incorporating cutting-edge technology into their sandals. We spoke with Toshiro Takahashi, Marketing Director at Blue Moon Company, to get more details about SHAKA.
"In the 1990s, SHAKA was something known only to a few in Japan. The model called 'HIKER' was the first original design, featuring details of a Gurkha sandal with an upper that wraps over the instep and a triple-thick sole.
"HIKER is still a staple item today, but advancements in technology have improved parts like the footbed and the quality of the straps, significantly enhancing comfort. Additionally, recycled materials are used, showing consideration for the environment."
