Today's fashion world sees more blurred lines between genders than ever before.
A prime example is the 'DIOR' Spring-Summer 2023-24 men's collection.
Now in his fifth year as Men's Artistic Director, Kim Jones has seamlessly blended the work of the brand's founder, Monsieur Dior, its past designers, and his personal style. And he has done so with incredible dexterity.
Needless to say, "DIOR" was born as a women's couture maison.
Almost half a century after its foundation, in 2001, it launched a menswear line under "DIOR HOMME." While adhering to the founder's philosophy of "refined modernity," both the menswear and womenswear lines have historically delivered distinctly different collections and messages, with no shared Creative Director.
The change started with the arrival of Jones. For his debut collection, the Summer 2019 men's collection, he renamed the brand "DIOR," removing "HOMME," on the premise that both menswear, womenswear, and beauty should fall under one brand umbrella.
