How do popular illustrators and manga artists absorb fashion and create their works? In this article, we interviewed illustrator and manga artist Kamomira, who has had they collection "Kamomira Short Stories (All 19 episodes)" dominate the top 20 spots in the manga category on Kindle Indies. We took a peek into the work process of this up-and-coming creator from a fashion perspective.
The Fashion Adventure Drawn by Kamomira
Kamomira is a 22-year-old creator based in Hiroshima. They started working as an illustrator in 2019 and began posting short manga on Twitter in 2021.
"The manga I publish on SNS are like hobbies I do in between illustration work. The things I couldn't express in my work piled up until I couldn't hold back anymore," said Kamomira.
His works consist mainly of short stories about 10 pages long. While they belong to the "BL" (Boys' Love) genre, they are extremely poetic, rather than aiming to make a sexual impact.
