Since the debut of the first model in 1993, ASICS' 'GEL-KAYANO' has been continuously loved by runners worldwide. The model offers high levels of support for smooth footwork, even during long runs, and stability that helps reduce foot wobbling. These features have helped many runners complete full marathons.
The latest addition to the series, the 'GEL-KAYANO 30', has a new feature that reinterprets stability on the 30th anniversary of the series. It balances stability and comfort from the start to the end of a run. I had a chat with the developer, Hiroki Nakamura, to find out how this model differs from its predecessors.

Adopting a New Functional Structure Aiming at Balancing Comfort & Stability

The 'GEL-KAYANO' series is a shoe with excellent stability. Overpronation is a running behaviour where the heel collapses excessively inward upon landing. In many cases, if you run for a long time or distance, pronation tends to increase and landing becomes unstable. This can put a lot of strain on the muscles in the legs and joints like the knees.
