Toyoshima & Co., Ltd., a lifestyle proposal trading company, is actively promoting the use of AI. As part of this initiative, the company has developed the "VIRTUAL STANDARD AI MEASURE" (trademark registered), an innovative device that automates the measuring process of apparel products using image analysis AI, significantly reducing the traditional time required for such tasks.
With just a single photo taken by a dedicated camera, measuring is completed, cutting the time by more than half. The measurement points can be adjusted on the monitor screen according to the design, providing measurement results with accuracy superior to traditional manual methods.

After graduating from university, he joined Toyoshima & Co., Ltd. He began in sales for practical clothing, then transitioned to selling wool raw materials and yarn, exporting domestic fabrics to the United States, and conducting sales for knit products during his overseas assignment, before engaging for many years in the company's information systems department. In July 2023, he moved to the newly established DX Promotion Department, where he focuses on the missions of "Production Management DX," "Value Creation DX," and "Utilization of Generative AI."

Can you tell us about the background of the development of "VIRTUAL STANDARD AI MEASURE"?
The VIRTUAL STANDARD AI MEASURE was originally designed with internal efficiency in mind and was not intended for commercialization.As a company that manufactures and sells clothing, we evaluated, as part of our internal operational efficiency initiatives, what took the most time in the garment production process and what efficiencies could lead to better outcomes. Ultimately, we decided to focus on streamlining the measuring task.
After the device was completed, we showcased it at an exhibition, where many customers expressed interest in implementing it in their operations.
Could you share how awareness of AI and its incorporation into your products developed within the company?
Our company has been actively promoting and implementing generative AI for over a year now.By closely observing technological advancements and transitions in AI, both the management's understanding and the staff's interest have naturally increased, leading to a negligible resistance to AI within the organization.
Many companies initiated efforts related to advanced technologies like AI triggered by external factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic; however, few have been able to sustain these initiatives.
In that context, our company chose to adopt AI as it was optimal for achieving our goal of improving internal operational efficiency, independent of trends, leading us to integrate it into our measuring tasks.
Benefits of Data Utilization Beyond Just Operational Efficiency
What specific benefits do you think come from the introduction of "VIRTUAL STANDARD AI MEASURE"?
There are two major benefits.First, there is a significant reduction in work time. By using "VIRTUAL STANDARD AI MEASURE" compared to conventional methods, we can reduce work time by more than half. This overwhelming efficiency leads to a substantial improvement in the business processes of clothing production.
The second benefit is that shooting images and measurement results can be saved as data. Until now, measurements were generally done manually and recorded on paper, making data reuse and analysis difficult. However, by utilizing "VIRTUAL STANDARD AI MEASURE," it becomes possible to leverage data for e-commerce sites and product catalogs.
The ability to properly store and utilize data is a very significant advantage in business, expanding the potential not only for operational efficiency but also for marketing and product development.
